Naturopathic Medicine
Licensed Naturopaths helping Ottawa and Ontario women optimize their health!
Naturopathic medicine is a system of primary health care that promotes wellness and prevention of illness or disease. Naturopathic doctors are highly educated primary care providers who integrate standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural therapies. Naturopathic medicine plays an important role in integrative health care, and treatments can be used on their own or together with conventional medicine.
As a distinct system of primary health care, naturopathic medicine addresses the root causes of illness. Naturopathic medicine supports the body’s own healthy ability using treatments and prevention techniques that include acupuncture/Asian medicine, botanical medicine, physical medicine (such as massage and hydrotherapy), clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, and lifestyle counselling.
The Naturopaths at Healing House Ottawa are interested in addressing your health conditions from a holistic perspective and focusing primarily on the underlying causes of your symptoms. During your visits, we rely on listening to your symptoms, lab testing and a complete health history to get the full picture. Getting back to vital health is a step-by-step process and we are looking forward to guiding you along that path.

ABOUT YOUR VISIT
Preparation for your appointment
Initial visit (75 min)
Your Naturopath will take a detailed history including in-depth information about chief complaints, a complete review of major systems of the body, past health, and family history. Patients will be given feedback regarding their case, and often will be assigned ‘homework’ (i.e. filling out a food intake log). Lab testing may be advised, or records requested from another physician. Initial Naturopathic recommendations are made to begin healing.
Second visit (60 min)
This visit takes place 1-4 weeks after the initial appointment. Between the first and second visits, your Naturopath will research your file from a number of different approaches. At this point, your Naturopath will discuss your in-depth Naturopathic recommendations to guide you towards your long-term health goals.
Follow up visits (30, 45, 60 min)
Depending on the patient’s needs and the complexity of their health, a protocol will be agreed upon by the doctor and patient for all follow-up visits. Some patients book visits weekly for such treatments as acupuncture and others will book visits at larger intervals.
