If you are feeling the inspiration and momentum to re-focus on your health goals I have a tip for you! Give each month of the coming year a particular focus, and stack your new health habits as you go through your year. It may go against your instincts to do it all at once, but those types of changes are hard to keep up with.
For example:
January - focus on blood sugar balance with lower-carb, higher-protein meals.
February - focus on your sleep routine, finding what gives you a sense of calm before bed and challenge yourself to put your phone in another room before bed.
March - plan consistent exercise that might be a new program, or increasing the intensity of what you normally do.
April - challenge yourself to limit processed foods, adding in new recipes to make things from scratch.
May - Mindfulness May has a nice ring to it. Dedicate 10-20 mins a day listening to a guided meditation on insight timer (a free app)
June - Joyful June brings about longer days and more ways to explore play and what brings you joy and excitement.
July - Journalling is a practice that you can start at the end of the day to help you process your emotions or clear your mind for a better rest.
August - Practice rest, let's not add anything here but explore what it means for you to give yourself rest and integration time.
September - this month feels like a mini New Year. Re-evaluate your changes and re-commit to any that have been working well for your health goals.
October - hydrotherapy is a great and free tool to help boost your immune system, and you can practice this with hot/cold showers.
November - Aim to have 7-10 servings of vegetables this month, and since it is cold out, have most of them cooked, experiment with roasting, soups and stews.
December - Boundaries! This is the perfect month to become aware of when you may need to say no, what isn't working for you and even to clear out any clutter!
Tailor this list to your personal health objectives and treatment plan. Progressing gradually and integrating changes in this manner can assist in establishing enduring habits and improving your health condition.
